Sanjeev Agrawal
PowerConnect Session Topic: My Experiments With Leadership

Sanjeev Agrawal was most recently CEO of Aloqa, a location-based mobile platform acquired by Motorola. Before Aloqa, Sanjeev was Head of Product Marketing for Google and VP Products and Marketing at Tellme Networks (acquired by Microsoft in 2007). Previously, he was a management consultant at McKinsey, and led Cisco's manufacturing vertical in its Internet Solutions group at Cisco Systems.

Sanjeev graduated Phi Beta Kappa and as a Henry Ford Scholar from MIT with a Bachelors and a Masters in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He pretends to play squash when not chasing down his two daughters for exercise.

Abstract: Sanjeev has in his own words had 1.5 careers - the first 10 years in large companies - Analog Devices, McKinsey and Cisco, and the next 7 as Google's first head of product marketing, Tellme's VP Products (acquired by Microsoft) and most recently CEO of Aloqa (Acquired by Motorola). His take on leadership has evolved and continues to every day. His talk "My Experiments With Leadership" captures what he has learned, how he thinks about what's important in a leader, and his own struggles with growing as a leader.

Angelika Blendstrup received a PhD in Education from Stanford and speaks five languages. She teaches US business communications to international executives in Silicon Valley and overseas. In addition, she works with international professionals and MBAs at San Francisco State, UC Berkeley, Stanford, and UCLA in accent reduction, corporate presentations, personal branding, and interviewing skills. Blendstrup is the author of They Made It!, and co-author of Communicating the American Way.

Murli is an executive at Dell. Prior to its acquisition by Dell, Murli was CEO of and co-founder of Ocarina Networks, the leader in primary storage optimization, reducing the costs of rampant storage growth. Ocarina was founded in 2007 and funded by Kleiner Perkins, Highland Capital, JAFCO and Stanford. Prior to Ocarina, as Group VP & GM of the Citrix Advanced Solutions Group, Murli drove the SSL-VPN acquired from Net6 to the number #1 unit market share in 18 months. As CEO and co-founder of Net6, Thirumale led the company's unique focus on SSL-VPN security, IP telephony/VOIP applications and data mobility and secured OEM relationships with Cisco, Avaya and Nortel. Net6 was funded by Sierra Ventures, OVP and Scale Ventures. As EVP and GM of Symmetricom, he founded a new broadband division for the company and helped establish it as the undisputed leader in telecom network timing. Prior to Symmetricom, Murli spent 15 Hewlett-Packard where he served as GM of the Timing Solutions for Communications Operation and founded two new business units at Hewlett-Packard, Network Synchronization and OEM Wireless Timing.

Thirumale has a B.Tech. in electronics engineering from IT-BHU in India and an M.B.A. from Northwestern's Kellogg’s school where he was an F.C. Austin Scholar. Murli is married, enjoys music, running and has twin daughters who keep him in line at home.

PowerConnect Session Topic: Corporate Leadership

Shailesh Shukla is VP and General Manager of Cisco's Mobile, Access, Routing & Services Business Unit. Prior to joining Cisco, Shailesh was at Juniper Networks as VP of Marketing for service provider business and for 7 years as VP at Redback Networks responsible for formulating and implementing Redback's strategy through strategic initiatives, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, and investments. He led three acquisitions and five equity investments, and served on the boards of two companies on behalf of Redback. Previously, Shukla was a partner at Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman) in its communications information and entertainment (CIE) industry practice, and also worked at Booz-Allen and Hamilton in a similar capacity.

Shukla holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from BITS Pilani, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kansas at Lawrence; and a master’s degree in business administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Pranab is currently Vice President of Information Technology at Seagate, world’s leading provider of storage devices. He is a fellow Alumni of NIT Allahabad with a degree in Computer Science and holds MBA in Finance from San Jose State University. Pranab is also a graduate of the Executive Leadership program from Harvard Business School.

Abstract: Pranab will be sharing his point of view on changing landscape for corporate IT organizations and evolving role of IT leadership. Pranab will also talk about the 3P’s – A personal approach to leadership that has worked well for him.

Speaker: Bhavesh Patel
PowerConnect Session Topic: How to be an effective leader

Bhavesh Patel is VP at Walmart, responsible for all Software Development Groups for Walmart.com division. Working for Fortune 1 Company, Mr. Patel manages software development for Walmart stores ecommerce division - Walmart.com.

He is managing 450+ people under his leadership. He is responsible for software development for all ecommerce areas including multi channel integration with stores. He was instrumental in making Walmart.com, the fastest growing division of world’s largest corporation. Prior to joining Walmart.com, Mr. Patel worked for a startup company - Ventro Corp. Prior to that, he was working with other companies like Oracle, Charles Schwab, Intuit, Verizon etc.

Mr. Patel has B.S. in Electronics and M.S. in Computer and Information Science from Temple University. Mr. Patel is the president of Anoopam Mission charity organization for San Francisco Bay Area and trustee of Anoopam Mission USA.

Sandip is a senior executive with 20 years of experience managing and growing global IT infrastructure product and service businesses. Currently, he is engaged in advising and directing various early to mid-stage companies . Most recently, Sandip was the President at Netmagic Solutions — a India-based managed hosting provider. Before that, Sandip was the President and CEO of Ensim and Head of Sales and Marketing at ICS. He is a TiE charter member and the chair of the TiE CEO forum. Sandip received a MBA from New York University and B.S. Mechanical Engineering from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology.

Abstract: Discuss key characteristics of the two different styles of leadership and explore with the group the relevance of each style in the 21st century.

Gaurav Kuchhal is passionate about simplifying the complex technology to solve everyday problems on everyday devices. Over past 15 years, Gaurav has launched a series of innovative Mobile, Speech, Collaboration, and Cloud products. Most recently, as Senior Director of Products at Microsoft, he led strategy and product development of Microsoft Speech cloud enabling award-winning Tellme “Say it. Get it.” voice search on mobile devices.

Prior to Microsoft, Gaurav managed Salesforce.com Mobile Division and drove world’s first on-demand mobile application marketplace to allow Salesforce.com partners to build and host enterprise mobile applications. Previously, Gaurav formulated and executed the strategy for Oracle Mobile & Voice division, and managed Oracle Mobile Middleware to enable consumer services for tier one telecom operators. He spearheaded the creation of an open standard Push IMAP to bring Blackberry like push email experience to all smartphones. Gaurav holds 2 patents to enable real time collaboration on mobile devices, and is an alumni of NIT Allahabad.
